The island of Mindanao is situated away from the typhoon belt, with a tropical climate enjoyed by Mindanaoan throughout the year. Farm products are best grown in this area because of its rich soil. For these reasons, Mindanao is the major source of agricultural resources in the Philippines. The major producer of rubber in the country is in Mindanao, South Cotabato and the Zamboanga peninsula in particular. For the past few years, rubber has been the top earner for Mindanao. Various programs and techniques are provided for the farmers to maintain and further promote the rubber industry in Mindanao.

Pineapple Plantation in Bukidnon

Other than rubber, the biggest pineapple production of the country is in Mindanao. Bukidnon province is home of the biggest pineapple plantation in the archipelago, and one of the largest in the world, Del Monte Philippines. Aside from pineapple, sugar mills, cattle farms, and anthuriums can also be found in the province of Bukidnon. There are a number of banana plantations established in Mindanao, specifically in Davao del Sur and Bukidnon. Export quality bananas produced from these plantations are exported to Russia, South Korea, Japan, and other foreign countries. Davao is more popular because of the exotic fruit it produces, durian.
