Some of the popular festivals in the country are from Mindanao. Listed below are the colourful festivals in Mindanao arranged by region.

> Sharif Kabunsuan Festival – an annual celebration in Maguindanao highlighted by a fluvial parade as reenactment of Shariff Kabunsuan’s arrival hundred of years ago.
> Lamilamihan Festival – this festival is celebrated annually on the month of April in Lamitan, Basilan. Music and dances, traditional crafts and customs, are showcased in this festival.
> Rajah Baguinda Festival of Jolo, Sulu- a commemorating festivity for the spread of Islam in the Sulu archipelago, celebrated every 2nd week of August.
> Kalilang sa Ranao

CARAGA

> Kahimunan Festival, Butuan City – this festival is Butuan’s version of Cebu’s Sinulog.

A Surigao Contingent

> Naliyagan in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – celebrated every June, as the anniversary of the founding of Agusan del Sur. Part of the celebration is the art exhibit showcasing the tribes of the entire Agusan Valley.
> Bonok Bonok Maradjaw Karadjaw in Surigao City
> Kaliguan Fluvial Festival of Cagwait, Surigao del Sur – yearly celebrated in honor of St. John the Baptist, highlighted by beach dancing and other beach activities.

Davao Region

> Kadayawan Festival, Davao City - celebrated every month of August by Davaoenos. It is a celebration of bountiful harvests of fruits and farm products. A flower show, a tribal parade, and street dancing are the festival’s highlights.
> Simballay Festival – celebrated every 3rd week of December, showcasing the different cultures of Compostela Valley.

Northern Mindanao

> Kaamulan Festival, Bukidnon – held every month of March. This festival is different from other festivals because street dancing participants are real indigenous people.
> Lanzones Festival, Camiguin – this celebration of sweet harvests of lanzones is highlighted by a beauty pageant, a parade, and street dancing.
> Diyandi Festival, Iligan City - celebrated every 29th of September in honor of patron St. Michael the Archangel. A beauty pageant, street dancing, cultural shows, and a parade are among the festival’s highlights.
> Kagayhaan Festival in Cagayan de Oro – held every August 28 in honor of St. Augustine. Mardi Gras type of street dancing is one of the festival’s must-see events.

SOCSARGEN

> Hinugyaw Festival of Koronadal City – Hinugyaw means “merrymaking”. Street dancing and trade exhibits are included in the festival highlights.
> Halad Festival, Midsayap North Cotabato – a celebration in honor of patron Sto. Niño. Street dancing and merrymaking are the festival’s highlight.
> Lemlunay Festival, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato – a T’boli tribal festival celebrated on the month of September. Cultural dances with native music are held at the town plaza.

Zamboanga Peninsula

> Zambulawan Festival of Pagadian City – songs, dances, and exhibits are showcased in this festival, celebrated every third Sunday of January.
> Hermosa Festival, Zamboanga City – held every October in honor of the miraculous image of Our Lady of Pilar. A cultural show, an ethnic parade, and the Miss Zamboanga beauty pageant are the highlights of this celebration.
