Alabel, Saranggani
Local Government Unit helps provide health and burial services to veterans. This is their way of acknowledging the heroic acts of the veterans during World War II. These veterans helped defend the country from the Japanese. Seventy percent of veterans’ hospitalization will be shouldered by the Provincial Government and P 2,000.00 will be provided for burial assistance. “They are too old already and they need extra help and attention,” says Governor Miguel Rene Dominguez.

Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat
“A four million worth sanitary land fill has started operations in Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat.” The landfill can accommodate fifteen to seventeen tons of garbage a day. The landfill is equipped with a composting facility and materials recovery, where materials that can be recycled are segregated.

Culminating activity of SK Summer Fun will be held tonight in Lluch St, Iligan City. Highlights of the said event will be the awarding of prices to the winners, and live band music from local music talents of Iligan. Skim boarding, beach volleyball, on-the-spot painting contest were among the activities for this SK project.

Davao
10th Infantry Division of Army deploys additional troops to Compostela Valley as part of strengthening its “peace-oriented military operations”. For the past few weeks, seven encounters between rebel communists and army troops have taken place around the Davao region, particularly in Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, and Compostela Valley. The military reported that there were three rebels killed and several were wounded.

Cagayan de Oro
Land transportation officer Simeon Gorra was ambushed around 6:20 in the morning in Barangay Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City. “The suspect fired and missed, but the bullet penetrated Gorra’s Denmax pick-up bearing plate number KDD-239″. Police speculated that the ambush was work-related. Two policemen are assigned at his house for security measures.

Zamboanga City
Innocente Bautista, proprietor and manager of the Western Mindanao Development Corporation (Wesmidco) was abducted by four gunmen in Zamboanga City last Tuesday. Whereabouts of Bautista is unknown up to this time, “but our search continues for his recovery,” says Colonel Darwin Guerra, Task Force Zamboanga (TFZ) chief. Families of the victims have not received any calls or demand from the abductors. Police officers and Task Force Zamboanga are working together for the fast rescue of Bautista.

Wage increase in Caraga Region will be implemented after the affirmation from National Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board. From 220 pesos rate per day, employees from this region will now be receiving 233 pesos daily.
