“Indigenous people” is the generic name for the different ethnic groups in Mindanao that are not Islamic. Two of the most popular indigenous groups in Mindanao are the T’boli of South Cotabato and the Mandaya of Davao. Listed below are the other lumad groups in Mindanao according to Wikipedia.com


Bilaan - they are found on the Southern part of Cotabato and Davao del Sur.
Subanen - the first settlers of Zamboanga peninsula, and live near the river. The name is derived from the local term “suba” which means river.
Higaonon - mostly found in Iligan City, Agusan del Sur, and Bukidnon.
Kamayo - most of them are found in Surigao del Sur and other parts of CARAGA region.

Other tribes: Tasaday, Tagabawa, Sangil, Mansaka, Mamanwa, Manobo.
