Have you ever walked down to the herd without a plan?
Maybe you entered the body of the herd without a thought about how you will impact the cattle?
In this week’s video, I discuss three different places to enter the herd for a cutting or herd work run, the impact that entry has on the movement of cattle, which routes I prefer, and why.
LET US KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS
thanks, Barb. This is helpful and explained so clearly.
Great info as always
Thank you! I will register for the Sarasota clinic!
thanks for that! I haven’t ever gone in from the front and I can totally see your logic. I’m excited to try it! I had learned to go along the side and cut the herd in two by going toward one of the turn back helpers, then splitting the “glob” as you call it in two again (letting half roll back one way). But what I see about going in more from the front is that in this picture, they will split nicely because of the way they’re already set up.
Great help Barb! Thanks!
Very Interesting – I need to pay more attention to these details of entering the herd!
This is awesome! I never knew you could go into the herd from the front!!
You always give me useful information that I can act upon. Thanks and Happy Holidays!
